Film Festival & Cultural Events Director
A Chicago native, Irène grew up in Skokie, IL, and has lived in five countries, most recently Israel for seven years. Holding a BA in Humanities (Theater, Philosophy, French Literature) from the University of Chicago, an MFA in Theater Directing from Middlesex University, London, and an MA (abd) in Creative Writing and English Literature from Bar Ilan University, Israel, Irène has been a lifelong practitioner in the arts, as a performer, director, and creative writer, and has worked in journalism, editing, blogging, and public relations.
In Chicago Irène was the Media Relations Manager at the Museum of Contemporary Art, and created performances in the theater community. Irène was granted a six-month arts residency in Israel’s Negev desert, where she experimented with film and wrote a novel, before making Aliyah. She discovered the fascinating world of wine in Israel, and this led her to the internationally celebrated Golan Heights Winery where she was a wine educator, event manager, and international marketing consultant. Wine brought her to Sonoma county, where she worked both in winemaking and winery management before returning to her calling in arts and arts administration. Irène lives in Healdsburg, and when not immersed in the world of cinema, dabbles in comedy writing, calligraphic painting, collages, crossword puzzles, and science fiction. She’s thrilled to bring the best of Jewish and Israeli art and culture to Sonoma county.
