Irène Hodes

Film Festival & Cultural Events Director

A Chicago native, Irène has lived in five countries, most recently Israel for seven years, before coming to Sonoma county six years ago. She and her family were active at Temple Judea Mitzpah in Skokie, IL, where her grandparents were founding members, and in the Habonim Dror movement. Holding a BA in humanities from the University of Chicago and an MFA in theater directing from Middlesex University, London, she has been a lifelong practitioner in the arts, as a performer, director, and creative writer, and has worked in arts administration and PR in the Chicago museum and theater communities. Irène was granted a six-month arts residency in Israel’s Negev desert through WUJS (World Union of Jewish Students/Young Judea), before deciding to make Aliyah. She serendipitously came to the wine world in Israel, working for the internationally celebrated Golan Heights Winery as a wine educator, event manager, and international marketing consultant. Irène lives in Healdsburg, and when not immersed in the world of cinema, dabbles in comedy writing, calligraphic painting, crossword puzzles, and science fiction. She’s thrilled to be bringing the best of Jewish and Israeli art and culture to Sonoma county.
