Yiddish Literature Class with Loretta Denner
We have a four-week Yiddish Literature (in translation) class, this time focusing on Yiddish writing in North America. The many Yiddish-speaking immigrants to Canada and the U.S. brought with them their skills as writers and a Yiddish-literate readership.

Dates: 4 consecutive Thursdays, Aug. 16, 23, 30 & Sept. 6
Time: 2-4:00 p.m.
The class will meet at the JCC upstairs and discuss readings--fiction, non-fiction, and some poems--by Chava Rosenfarb, I.B. Singer, Jacov Glatsteyn, among others.
Texts will be collected in a reader compiled for this class and distributed August 16.
The instructor, Loretta Denner, has led numerous Yiddish Lit. classes at the Sonoma County JCC, including ones on I.L. Peretz, the Singer brothers, Women Yiddish writers, and Sholem Aleichem. She is an emerita Engish department instructor from Santa Rosa Junior College and a speaker and reader of Yiddish. Lecturing is kept to a minimum, and the meetings are largely discussion.
