Board of Directors

Joshua Katz, President
joined the JCC Board in 2000 and has been President since 2005. He is an attorney in Santa Rosa focusing on individual and class action litigation. Josh lives in Sebastopol with his wife Jennifer Iscol and their children Alex and Isabel.

Jay Peretz, 1st Vice President
joined the Board in 2007. He lives in Santa Rosa with his wife and three sons.

Arnold Rosenfield, 2nd Vice President
has served on the Board of Directors of the Jewish Community Center for the past six years. He also serves as a member of the Board of Directors at Congregation Shomrei Torah. He has served as a Superior Court Judge in Sonoma County since 1985 as well as teaching as an adjunct professor at Sonoma State University. He lives in Santa Rosa with his wife Phyllis. They have two adult children.

Barry Ben-Zion, 3rd Vice President
was born and raised in Israel during WWII, the Israeli War of Independence, and the 1956 Suez War crisis. After serving in the Israeli Air Force, he came to study in the United States in 1960. Barry earned his Bachelorīs Degree in economics from Sonoma State in 1965 (being the first economics graduate and the first foreign born student to graduate from SSU.) He went on to get his graduate degrees (MA and Ph.D.) in economics from the University of Oregon. In 1969 he returned to his undergraduate Alma Mater where he was appointed to the economics faculty and remained a professor until retirement in 2000. Having developed a consulting practice in forensic economics over the past 30 years, Barry continues working in that capacity on a full time basis. While attending undergraduate school, Barry met and married his wife Joan. Joan passed away in 1996. They had two daughters. Shira, a lawyer by profession, is currently a full time mom to three beautiful daughters Halina and Verity and Risa. Sabrina, a practicing pediatrician at a clinic of the Akron Childrenīs Hospital, lives near Akron with her husband and new baby boy, Nolan. Barry lives in Santa Rosa with his lovely wife Gail who currently manages his office. Gailīs two children, Tony and Laura, work in the mortgage business and live in Southern California. Barry has always taken interest in his Jewish community and is pleased to be a Board member of the Jewish Community Center, Sonoma County.

Mark Milberg, Treasurer
has over 16 years of management experience in the healthcare and biotechnology industries. He currently holds the position of Contract Manager at Medtronic Vascular. He has the unique background of earning both a Masters Degree in Social Welfare and a MBA. Mark enjoys a wonderful family life in Santa Rosa with his wife, Sue, and two great children. Mark has served on the Board for the Northern CA Center for Well-Being. He has successfully co-chaired the annual Purim fundraiser for Congregation Shomrei Torah and has participated in the Kadima training the temple leadership implemented. Mark serves on the JCC Budget and Finance Committee.

Mark Freed
has practiced law in Santa Rosa since 1977, with emphasis in real property, business and estates. He has been on the Executive Committee of the Sonoma County Bar Association, was the co–chair of the Barīs Alternate Dispute Resolution (ADR) Section and the chair of the Barīs Mediation and Arbitration Referral Service (MARS). MARS recently received grants of $130,000 from the California State Bar to further ADR in Sonoma County. For 15 years, Mark taught real property and torts at Empire College of Law.
